Is it the battery?
A car battery replacement isn’t always the fix. A no-start can come from cables, the starter or the alternator.

It won’t start or just clicks, but a jump gets it going.
Call us. It may be the battery, or the alternator isn’t recharging it. We test both.
The battery light stays on, or the battery looks swollen or leaks.
Don’t jump it or keep driving. Call us and we’ll help you get it here.
Signs you need it
Most battery calls start with one of these lines.
Often a battery losing strength, and cold makes it worse.
Could be the battery, but it often points to the charging system.
Could be the battery, a loose cable or the starter itself.
Usually corrosion, which blocks current and shortens battery life.
Possibly a weak battery, or an alternator that isn’t keeping up.
Could still be fine, but the winter time will let you know for sure if it needs replacing.

Battery testing comes first: battery, starter, alternator, cables and terminals.
Your service advisor explains the tester readout: charge, cranking power and what it means.
You’ll know if it’s the battery or something else, with fair pricing on each fix, before we start.
We install a 12 volt car battery matched to your manufacturer’s spec, clean the terminals and retest.
We go over the work and tell you roughly how long the new battery should last.

Three to five years is typical. Summer heat wears a battery out, and Bloomington’s cold mornings are when a tired one quits. Short trips across town don’t give the alternator time to recharge it. Past three years, ask for a battery test at your next oil change, so you replace it on your schedule, not in a parking lot.
Yes. Our ASE-certified technicians check the battery, alternator and starter, and your service advisor shows you the readings. If the battery still holds a good charge, we tell you honestly and look for the real cause. Nothing gets replaced without your okay.
Then the battery probably wasn’t the only cause. A worn starter, a corroded ground cable or a weak alternator can all look like a dead battery, which is why we test the whole system. After any battery swap, drive 20 to 30 minutes so the alternator can top it up.
We only install the batteries we supply, so the part fits. On many older cars you can swap one yourself: negative cable off first, positive on last. Newer start-stop cars often need the battery registered with a scan tool.
Yes. At 0°F a battery loses a big share of its starting power, right when a cold engine needs more. That’s why so many no-starts happen on the first frigid January morning. A test in October or November tells you if your battery will last the winter.
