Complete vehicle inspections

Car Inspection in Bloomington, IN

After a complete auto inspection, you leave with a priced list: what needs attention immediately, and what can safely wait.

When to Schedule?

Find your situation first

Not sure which car inspection fits? Pick whichever description sounds most like yours.

Schedule a visit

“I just want to know where my vehicle stands.”

Book a visit. Our technicians sort every finding into two piles: fix it now, or it can wait.

Schedule this week

“I’m heading out on a long drive, or I’m moving.”

Give us a few days’ notice so recommended repairs are finished before departure.

Call us first

“Something sounds, feels or smells different and I can’t place it.”

Call us, describe the noise or smell, and the technician checks that area first.

Signs you need it

What drivers say they notice

Six situations Bloomington drivers describe, each connected to a detailed explanation.

“It’s been over a year”

Often, a yearly checkup spots a worn component while it’s still an inexpensive fix.

What causes this →

“Something sounds or feels different”

Could indicate a noise or vibration that’s less expensive to identify early.

What causes this →

“A warning light came on”

Might indicate one fault or several, so we identify the actual cause first.

What causes this →

“I’m about to take a long trip”

It’s usually smart to examine tires, brakes and fluids before hundreds of highway miles.

What causes this →

“My brakes or lights seem off”

Possibly worn brake pads or a failing bulb; an inspection covers both.

What causes this →

“I’m buying or selling a vehicle”

Sometimes a buyer’s inspection and a seller’s inspection uncover completely different issues.

First of all These guys rock. I got to talk to Rick and Mark. The full inspection they do is top notch. I went in for oil leak and coolant issues. If something is wrong they will find it. Pay Cash or check get discounted rate. Second of all my truck runs better now than when I bought it. Overall hard to find a place as thorough and honest as Mason Automotive. I got a few more things for them to take care of down the road but engine and thermostat are working beautifully. I highly recommend them over anyone else in town. Keep up the great work fellas!

Following word of mouth recommendations, I came to Mason Auto for a pre-purchase inspection, and found those stellar recommendations to be well deserved! The team at Mason Auto were incredibly helpful and thorough in their inspection, and even caught a major issue with the tires that had slipped past the dealerships regular inspection. I was able to get a credit towards replacing the tires thanks to their diligence (which of course I came back to Mason to complete the work, and am thrilled with my new tires!) I will definitely be using Mason for all of my maintenance needs for my newly purchased vehicle!

This was by far the most excellent experience I’ve had at a mechanic shop. They were extremely attentive and kept in constant communication throughout the week my car was in their shop. They explained every inspection find and all possible options based off of my specific concerns/finances/ and timeline. As long as I’m in Bloomington I will be using Masons

Mason automotive is where I take all of our vehicles to. You tell them what you need done and they will also do a courtesy inspection and tell you about what they had found. The guys at mason do not try and sale you anything that is not a safety issue, they tell you about it and leave it up to you. Fair and honest guys couldn’t ask any better.

I took my car and granddaughter car in for a bumper to bumper inspection. They only charged me for the issues they could find, anywhere would have been putting on parts that weren't needed. This is huge reason why I love going to Mason Auto. They are there to help manage your car maintenance not rip you off.

FAQs

Frequently
Asked Questions

What will my car inspection include?

Brakes, tires, suspension, steering, fluids, belts, hoses, battery and lights: a comprehensive check that includes a brake and light inspection. Your written report marks each item urgent, can wait, or fine, with individual prices.

Is this a state inspection?

No. It’s a shop inspection of your vehicle’s overall condition, not an official state safety or emissions test. Need an official inspection? Call us for directions.

How much does a car inspection cost?

Fair pricing starts with an honest quote. Price depends on your vehicle and how much you want checked. Let us know what you’re looking for when you book.

Will you try to upsell me on repairs?

No. You receive the list and make every decision, with no pressure. Nothing gets repaired until you’ve approved it.

Should I get one before buying a used car?

Yes. Our pre-purchase inspection checks the vehicle before money changes hands, giving you negotiating leverage or a reason to walk away.

Owner

Jarred Mason

Meet Jarred, our owner/operator and the man in charge! Jarred is a “Master Certified” ASE technician, along with having factory training and certifications from General Motors. Jarred’s passion for helping people is what led him to start Mason Automotive.

Unlike conventional owners of auto repair shops, Jarred started his career as a technician and sees the auto repair industry in a different light. After years of seeing how people were simply treated as just another number in most shops, he wanted to create a place where people wanted to bring their cars because it was someone they trusted. Jarred works both in the shop and in the office, overseeing his vision of being “the local mechanic you can trust.”

Making sure people are taken care of, making sure vehicles are repaired properly, and ensuring people have a vehicle they can rely on are the heart of his business. Outside of his business, Jarred is passionate about his family and is a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan. The whole family joins in every Sunday to cheer on their beloved Falcons.
